Microsoft DirectX delivers fast performance for DirectX-enabled games and other rich media software. This version of DirectX can replace all previous released versions of DirectX. It includes several critical fixes for Direct3D® and DirectShow® components. DirectShow: Modifies kernel component stream.sys to correct failure of laptops to resume from hibernation as described in Knowledge Base article Q307207. This fix only affects Windows 2000 systems using a docking station having an attached USB camera. Fixes a blocking issue in quartz.dll on Windows 2000 when running DirectShow in a service. Corrects a boundary case in the MPEG-2 Demultiplexer where packets may be dropped. This condition can occur if the video stream packet size is an integral multiple of transport packet size. The fix is incorporated for all DirectX-supported platforms. Direct3D Fixes Direct3D-base screen savers, when the computer may be unable to enter standby or hibernation by using the timer in Power Management properties. Fixes some recent game titles that use DrawIndexedPrimitive() API with clipped TL vertices. Fixes flashing polygons/lines issues in some applications that used DirectX 8.0 DrawPrim(), DrawClippedPrim, DrawIndexedPrim() APIs. Installation notes: On Windows XP, you will need to download the latest Windows XP Service Pack. XAR_v1_031_to_v1_032.exe is for those who have purchased a version of the game that came with Gordon Bowman Jones as the announcer voice. XAR_v1_031_to_v1_032_lowres.exe is for those who did not, and thus have patched to a version of the game that includes these voices. Determine which patch you need: The easiest way to tell which version you need to use is to look at your audiores.8on file. If it's about 140k, you'll need the XAR_v1_031_to_v1_032.exe patch. If it's more like 60k, you'll need the XAR_v1_031_to_v1_032_lowres.exe patch. Note that in both cases you'll need to have patched up to version 1.031 first. Patch Instructions Click on link to selected patch for your version, select save file to to your XtremeAir folder (default installation folder is C:\XtremeAir). Run the patch file by either double clicking on it within your XtremeAir folder, or selecting the run command from your start menu. Follow instructions and patch will self-install. Patch installation can take a long time to install and may appear to have hung during the install. Do not stop the process, allow it to continue to completion. |
